There were so many amazing women who were not only accomplished in their own right, but also very successful in their field of work. This was very inspiring to see and hear about.
My mom has been an amazing female role model for me and my sister and it got me thinking about other strong females that have been role models and mentors to me.
I have learned a lot from the women in my family. My grandmothers were both strong women the blazed a trail for my mother and all of their grandchildren.
Another young female who has been an inspiration is Azalea Lehndorff who has changed the lives of many Afghanistan children and especially girls by proving a space where these girls can learn. She had a dream and has persevered with her 100 Classrooms Project with A Better World Canada.
As an educator, I think it will be important to recognize these females that have been so influential in my life. I hope that this will spark my students to think of the inspiring men and women in their life.
In her acceptance speech, my mom said "we all have something that is special to us and something that we are passionate about. We are all excellent women if we can pursue these dreams and passions." I am so proud the be her daughter.
"I alone cannot change the world, but I can cast a stone across the waters to create many ripples." - Mother Theresa.
I thought that this quote was appropriate for women who pave the way for local and global change.
