KSA 16: Vision of Teaching
The importance of guiding their actions with a personal, overall vision of the purpose of teaching. They are able to communicate their vision, including how it has changed as a result of new knowledge, understanding and experience.
My vision for teaching incorporates values that I have obtained through my experiences. Through travels and humanitarian efforts I have learned that different cultures play a role in how a student learns and that we are all unique. I have also been to a leadership, multicultural, and anti-racism camp where I developed a stronger sense of ethnic and cultural understanding. Through work at a summer camp for children and youth with disabilities I have developed an understanding of working with students with challenges. All of these attributes come together to create a vision of how I see teaching my students as well as how they will learn.
My vision for learning would consist of a very interactive environment for my students. This would entail visuals and manipulatives for them to work with and also creating a cohesive team atmosphere among the students. I think that it is important to make the classroom to have good peer relations for peer rule enforcement as well as for group work. I also see a diverse classroom with no racism or stereotyping. Overall I hope for an unbiased, team based, comfortable environment.
My vision for teaching is to make any lesson interesting. I want to have many experiments or hands on activities. I use differentiated instruction so that all of the students can learn the material. I am enthusiastic about the course material because I know that enthusiasm can spread to the students for motivation. I promote a cohesive environment for the students as well. I also would like to have my class involved in humanitarian effort each year.
I look forward to having my own classroom where I can imply my ideas and innovations. I am excited to be placed in a new environment where I can help students succeed.
