KSA 12: Parental Engagement
The importance of engaging parents, purposefully and meaningfully, in all aspects of teaching and learning. They know how to develop and implement strategies that create and enhance partnerships among teachers, parents and students.
In all three of my practicums, I was involved with communication to parents. This entailed both communication through phone calls, emails, and parent teacher interviews. In these processes, I learned how to positively communicate to parents both student achievements and successes as well as areas where a student may need improvement.

During my first year of teaching at Ponoka Secondary Campus, teachers were involved and responsible for registering students in our teacher advisory group. This registration process involved a meeting with parents to open up communication and to create rapport with the family.
