KSA 13: Community Involvement
Student learning is enhanced through the use of home and community resources. They know how to identify resources relevant to teaching and learning objectives, and how to incorporate these resources into their teaching and students’ learning.
I love to volunteer. I have had community involvement outside of my practicums through raising awareness and money for education (schools) in Kenya as well as collecting both monetary and food donations for a variety of food banks across Alberta.
I am involved with an organization called A Better World Canada where I volunteer and have travelled with to Kenya on two separate occasions.
I also like to get students aware of science based careers and job opportunities in their local community. Therefore, I organized a field trip and helped to plan other field trips for students to go on to see the opportunities that their local community has for science.
